IT'S ALL ABOUT DREW!
The face behind the mask!
I am an amateur sewer, baker and geek!
Based in South London I have been making face masks since the start of the 2020 COVID19 lockdown. First all the sewing was done by hand, but now I have treated myself to a wee Singer!
I work in IT, but don't hold that against me!
I am a bit of a geek, but I also think I am quite a creative soul. I used to love acting when I was younger, but I enjoyed the more hands on, behind-the-scenes type of roles.
I last sewed something (other than a button!) when I was at school ... in the last century! But this strange and interesting period has reinvigorated a long suppressed interest.
Other interests
I also love baking and once dreamed about setting in business ... until I realised that I was only really good at baking one thing - cupcakes - and the market was saturated.
I am also a HUGE fan of Wonder Woman - you'll notice her dotted around this site!
So why Demelza?
If you know me you know that every year our street holds a table top sale raising funds for Demelza Hospice for children, a local charity which is much in need of support. Over the past 5 or 6 years the street has raised nearly £3000 for Demelza but this is a drop in the ocean for funding the vital care this wonderful place provides.
I first suggested the charity merely because someone I’m very fond of is involved at a high level, however I’ve been staggered by the way our neighbours have full on supported them, and how the local money-raising group consider our street an important part of their network.
